Dry, Damp or Zebra Stripe? Are you looking to reset your drinking habits this new year? Here are some ways you can reduce your alcohol intake: Try dry - Not having alcohol for a whole month can do wonders for your health and it doesn’t just need to be in the month of January. Try sharing your plans to stop with others for extra support and make sure to plan in some fun non-alcohol related activities to help keep you motivated. Try damp - A more a moderate approach to stopping completely, allowing for the occasional, mindfully-chosen drink. Try setting yourself a goal of only drinking on weekends and sticking to the recommended no more than 14 units a week. Zebra stripe - If you do decide to drink try Zebra striping: a newish term for an old concept of alternating drinking one non-alcoholic drink for every alcoholic one. That way, you're drinking half the amount that it feels like you are and you're spacing out the alcoholic drinks as you go. 0% alcohol beers, mocktails or your favourite soft drinks are great options to zebra stripe. If you want to reduce your alcohol intake this year, our Alcohol Advisors can support you with free and confidential one to one sessions (read more below). Our service is confidential and non-judgmental, with no group work involved. You are not expected to stop drinking completely unless that's your goal.
